Well Glenn Beck's flirtation with notorious no-sexual tickler Eric Massa didn't work out so now he's got a new hero. Joe McCarthy. Take that history.

The OK Street project was created with a simple purpose in mind. Point out the crap that passes for political commentary in this day in age. Now mainly I'll be picking on the right wing but I won't let a lefty get by with a whopper simply because they and I may share a common policy belief. And being based here in Atlanta, I'll be paying special attention to actions that occur under the Gold Dome of the Capitol.

Right Wing Lies Vol. 1 Jefferson

Visit any right wing website and sooner or later you'll see this quote.

"Democracy will cease to exist when you take away willing to work, and give to those who will not."

And they all attribute it to Thomas Jefferson. I mean how lucky for the Republicans that they have Jefferson basically espousing their viewpoint. It's almost too good to be true.

Remember this kids, they're liars. That's right, all the evidence seems to point to this little ditty being a modern construction. A Lexis/Nexis search shows it didn't appear in print until 2005. A search of the Jefferson library shows nothing, nill, zip. Here's the funny thing, Jefferson was probably the least likely of the founding fathers to have spouted such nonsense. If he were alive today the right wing would assail Jefferson for his support of the death tax. But hey if it looks good and you think you can get away with the lie, go ahead attribute it to Jefferson.
